Diaper bag for a 21 month old?

My daughter will be 2 in July and I am thinking about getting her another diaper bag, hers in getting pretty worn outwas a cheap walmart diaper bag! My question is, is she to old for a diaper bag? i usually keep diapers, wipes, change of clothes, and tons of snacks for when we go out. I found these bags at the mall that you can personalize with the childs name on them, I was just wondering if she was getting to old for one? how old is your toddler and do you have a diaper bag for them, what do you keep in it? thanks for all your help!!

My daughter is 17 months and I still use a diaper bag, of course my daughter is a little younger than yours. I can imagine going somewhere without being fully prepared with extra toys, an extra sippy cup, change of clothes, plenty of diapers, wipes, rash cream, snacks, Motrin and teething tablets etc. I haven used a purse since I had my daughter (unless I had to run out by myself), I just shove everything into our diaper bag. I also got one of those more trendy diaper bags with her name embroidered on it. Its black with pink polka dots and its super cute (it could probably even double as a large purse if I wanted). I wouldn get rid of the diaper bag if it were me, however I know how my daughter is, and everything I carry for her I use. If a diaper bag still fits into your lifestyle and accommodates you well, there is no need to stop using one, no matter if she going on 2 or 4. It sounds like a good idea. I have a total of like 5 diaper bags that I switch out.

My 2 yr old son loves his little thomas train backpac. It light and carries 4 diapers, wipes and a snack and sippy cup. He loves to carry it himself and I pleased that I don have to keep up with a ton of stuff anymore. If you can find somthing that she likes and she is willing, just have a small bag that she can be responsible for. It will make her feel proud to have her own little bag. My son is now 2.5 and has never lost his bag or missplaced it and he carries it everywhere. Lately he has started filling it himself (though I double check) and he knows it goes with him wherever he goes.

My son is 18 months old. I finally got tired of carrying a diaper bag. I was looking all over for a cute hobo styled bag that was large enough to carry diapers, wipes, snacks and a a couple small toys/books. I use the middle (that zips) for my things, phone, wallet, keys, camera and gum. I use the two outer compartments (magnetic buttons) for the diapers, wipes, snack, cup, books/toys. It is great, no more transferring from a diaper bag to purse during the work week (most often I do have diapers in my purse that makes a great conversation starter haha)

4 tips for taking care of baby skin

There are few things better than the soft, delicate skin of a newbornand few things worse than a cranky infant irritated by diaper rash, cradle cap, or other skin condition. In my clinic, I am asked tons of questions regarding newborn skin care. Taking care of your baby's skin can be simple, if you know how to properly treat it and you know what to look for.

1. What we can learn from kangaroos.

The skin is not only a way for you to enjoy your baby, but is also a way for your baby to enjoy you: Studies published in a 2003 issue of Pediatrics in Review shown that skintoskin contact with a parent in the early days to weeks of life, termed "kangaroo care," is important for your baby's temperature regulation and development and has led to positive outcome measures including increased weight gain and decreased crying.

A newborn's skin may exhibit a variety of changes over the first weeks of life. After all, your baby has essentially been floating in a warm bath for the past nine months. Rashes are common and mostly benign, albeit a frequent source of parental concern. Baby acne, which may erupt in the first few days of life, is a temporary reaction to the remainder of mom's estrogen in the baby's blood stream and should go away on its own in several weeks. Tiny white pimples on the nose, known as milia, are another benign skin finding which are the result of blocked sebaceous glands. Other rashes like erythema toxicum, which appear as pustules on a reddish base, is common often before the baby leaves the newborn nursery. Dry skin is another concern, including cradle cap which often disappears with routine bathing with a fragrancefree soap.

More concerning rashes? Anything actively draining fluid, accompanied by fever, or ones that are progressively worsening or spreading.

3. Diaper rash: The bottom line..

The warm, moist environment of the diaper provides the perfect conditions for skin irritation, often leading to red, irritated rashes and fussiness and discomfort of your newborn. Culprits include chafing, a reaction to diaper material, a yeast infection, or prolonged contact with urine or stool. For prevention, hygiene is key: Wipe your baby's bottom with unscented wipes and pat dry, changing soiled diapers promptly. For treatment, apply a thick layer of zinc oxide or another barrier cream, which should be left on at each diaper change rather than rubbing hard to remove it. Also, frequently exposing your baby's bottom to room air can be helpful.

Red flags? If there is any bleeding, if you notice pusfilled sores or if the rash does not go away within 35 days.

4. Remember, when it comes to newborn skin, "less is more."

In general, baby's skin does not need much specialized care. Apart from diaper changes, drool and the occasional spitup, newborns tend to stay relatively clean. Resist the urge to bathe your baby frequently, as it strips away the natural oils that protect the baby's skin. For the first month or so, sponge bath with a gentle, fragrance free cleanser or plain water two to three times a week, which should keep your baby clean while preventing your baby's skin from losing it's natural moisture.

Posted my scripttobe's synopsis just the other day on the Film TV1 blog and it reads pretty much like so:

Andrew Ford (17) and Amelia Barker (17) have quite a few things in common: both are rolemodel students of Piaget High, both are popular, smart, attractive and excel in just about everything they do; including being active in extracurricular activities  Andrew is lead singer and bass guitarist for his band, Lego City while Amelia is head cheerleader of the Piaget Panthers.

It is now nearing the end of high school senior year for the duo and so far nothing seems capable of standing in their way of finishing it on a good note. Nothing, that is, except perhaps the final group project for Mrs. Thompson's Child Development class.

During said class period, both soon learn this project involves their pairing up as a couple to share the jointtask of parenting a computerized 'baby' doll over a weeklong duration. They are to include the child in all aspects of their daily routines, bringing him/her wherever they go.

Later, Andrew and Amelia are at the mall hypermarket looking to buy formula and diapers for their 'baby' girl, Haley. Amelia scans the aisles for these necessities as Andrew lags a step or two behind, casually pushing a stroller ('baby' onboard) with one hand as his other clutches a sheet paper within ruler's distance of his face. He is reciting the contents of their assignment brief concerning what to do when the doll starts to(sudden wails of distress echo aloud)cry.

Comedy ensues as Andrew and Amelia attempt to soothe their bawling 'daughter' while deciding who gets the misfortune of her company for the night.

Yeah, it has backstory in there; pretty much because I didn think the part where the script is supposed to start would make sense without it.

So, what does everyone else think? Interesting enough? Heh, I've realized over the years that the very things that interest me in particular tend to bore the majority of others out there. My interests must be whacked to a whole lot of people, sighs. Still, what can I do? It's MY interest and what I find myself fascinated in reading about/watching.

I suppose lecturer Christine's having nothing actually negative to say about it makes me feel really relieved. She offered up the suggestion of the two characters hating each other  seriously, I HAD THAT IN MY MIND SO WHY DIDN'T I JUST PUT IT THERE? Lol, silly me. I was worried of having too much drama, what with the baby (doll) throwing crying fits and all. Learnt something today

When were disposable diaper first used

The disposable diaper developed stepbystep and can really be attributed to any one person or company. Early disposable diapers were luxury items most people couldn afford to use regularly. The first disposable pad used as a diaper was around 1942 and was made of creped cellulose, because cotton was needed for the war effort. In the mid40s an American housewife named Marion Donovan received several patents for her "disposable diaper" model, which was just a cloth diaper inserted in some plastic shower curtain material. She also used snaps instead of safety pins. In 1947, George M. Schroder and Henry Frede Co. created the first disposable diaper with nonwoven fabric. Also in 1947, a two piece disposable model was created by a British woman named Valerie Hunter Gordan. Rumor has it that Eastern Airlines commissioned the company Chicopee (J to develop a disposable diaper for customers on long transatlantic flights, and they created CHUX disposables in 1949. Then in 1950, a roll diaper was marketed by Paulistrom, which had to be cut to fit and inserted into reusable diaper covers. However, disposable diapers as we know them were not available on the market until 1961, after Vic Mills (working for Procter and Gamble) created "Pampers". Thereafter, disposable diapers evolved rapidly into what we know today.

Potty Training doesn't have to be a chore

As a home daycare provider I have the pleasure of potty training many of child. As a lot of mother's know training a boy can be more challenging but the key is to not start to early and allow your child to show you the signs, that he or she is ready to start training.

Some of the signs your child is ready for potty training are:

If you child is not showing any of the signs of readiness to potty train above, then your child is simply not ready to train. One mistake I see more often than not is parents wanting their child too early. You cannot push your child to potty train if they are ready, because your child will revert back to pottying in their pants.

The best way I have personally found to train your child is using a simple reward system. The key to this reward system is to involve your child in every aspect of this. Make them feel special and they are playing an important role in their training. You can do the reward many ways I will discuss two ways I have used and had much success with.

This reward simple is easy buy yourself poster board, and if you have a childcare provider you will want two charts so your provider can also join in this system. Also have your child pick out their favorite stickers to use, and allow them to color and decorate their charts. Then each time your child goes potty have them add a sticker to their chart, then when they have a full chart I did MondayFriday I would let them pick a prize out of my treasure chest. My treasure chest consisted of dollar store items and treats.

This is a huge success because they were fully involved in the process of creating and maintain the potty chart, plus they know that by keeping their pants dry and using the toilet they are getting rewarded.

This is very similar to the system above, but instead of using a chore chart I had mason jar on my kitchen counter filled with gummy bears. Gummy bears are low in sugar and a great treat, when your child goes potty reward them with one gummy bear, if they poop in the potty they get rewarded with two gummy bears. This is great especially for those children who really love their snacks.

Another tip for potty training time I have used is leaving a basket in the bathroom next to the potty chair full of books about potty training. Then when you child is sitting on the potty they can sit their relax and read their potty training books, and this may help to start the pottying process a little easier. The best advice I have for all parents is, no matter how tired you are of changing diapers, you cannot rush your child. Just watch your child's behavior and you will know when your child is ready, and then you can begin your potty training process. Read our full Terms of Service.

Convincing an Indian mother to use diapers for her baby is not easy. But when doctors or paediatricians suggest the same, it is likely to become a worthwhile proposition.
